General announcement

Movie "Jack the Giant Slayer" cancelled

We couldn't get a film print, so this movie scheduled for April 12-14, 2013 has been cancelled.

Digital Projection Project - December 2012 Update!

We continue to make progress. Please keep volunteering, sharing about the Kent, and donating.

We have now raised $50,236 towards the $60,000 goal! That means we're 84% of the way there,

You can make a donation right now to help the Kent keep showing movies. The process is safe and secure through PayPal. Even if you don't have a PayPal account, you can use any credit or debit card to donate.

You can enter any amount for your gift on the donation page or select one of our preset levels:
  $36 Supporter Level*
  $72 Backer Level
  $144 Producer Level
  $576 Angel Level

* If you visit the theater once a month for a $3 movie, that works out to be $36 per year. If you match what you are already paying for movies with a donation of just $36, you still only pay about $6 per movie! And with your gift, we'll still be showing movies in 2013!

No More Movies?!

No more movies?! Not if you help!

If you've been coming to any movies at the Kent lately, you've probably heard that we will not be able to show movies, anymore. Not unless we can raise the money needed to replace our film system with a digital system.

Here's how YOU can help. Read this article and consider a tax-deductible donation to help us buy a new digital projection system.

News: Article Appearing in the Rockford Advance on the Kent Theatre

An article about the Kent Theatre appeared in the Rockford Advance newspaper...

"Last year, the Kent Theatre was informed by their film distributors that by the end of 2012, it would become increasingly harder, if not eventually impossible, to obtain film prints of movies.

In order to continue screening films, the theater needed a complete conversion to a digital projection system, which would cost $60,000..."

Kent Theatre in the News!

The Kent Theatre was on Fox 17 on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. We hosted the live feed during a story about the generosity of the Cedar Springs community. See Fox 17 for more details!

Projector Extras Project

Now that we've achieved our primary goal of funding the digital projector system, we still have a few extras we need to be able to improve the system and maximize the project. The main thing we need is a projector capable of showing announcements and sponsorships (using this will save the bulb on our new digital projector system). We are hoping to raise an additional $10,000 to help with these extras and we are already almost half way there with over $4,600 raised!

You can help with this project by selecting your commitment level and clicking the donate button...

Anonymous Donor Offers $5,000 Challenge Match!

A friend of the Kent Theatre has made an amazing challenge! This donor will match all donations, up to $5,000, to help complete the digital project project!

Here's the story:

"I am a lifelong resident of Cedar Springs and would like to help the Kent Theatre in their final push to get the Digital Projector.

My wife and I have been talking and God has blessed us and we wish to share our blessings with the community in some way.

I will match any gifts that come into the Digital Projection Fund! My total commitment to Kent Theatre would be $5,000.00.

So in summary, I will match dollar for dollar the next $5,000.00 that comes into the fund to hopefully push this project up and over the top!"

This challenge match starts today, December 8, 2012. Make your donation in person at the theatre, here on the website, or mail a check. Everything up to $5,000 will be matched! Your gift is now worth twice as much and you can be part the final push to complete this project!
