A New York hotel room is the setting for three stories of romantic squabbles in Neil Simon's Plaza Suite

"Plaza Suite" was one of Broadway’s biggest hits by popular playwright, Neil Simon. This wonderful comedy is a three-act play that details the misadventures of three very different couples as they face crucial moments in their respective lives ~ at different times, but all in the same hotel suite in the famous Plaza Hotel.
In Act One, a suburban housewife books the suite in an attempt to bring back a spark into her marriage. She thinks it’s the same suite they shared on their honeymoon, 24 or was it 23 years ago? And was it really 719 or was it on the 8th floor? Her husband, tied up with work (and other “things”) doesn’t share her romantic intentions. A bittersweet look at marriage, lost memories, and couples who “grow apart” without realizing it.
The second act features a famous Hollywood producer who, after three marriages, is
looking for something to “stir his soul” again. He invites his high school sweetheart up to the suite, hoping to “turn back the clock” or at least “turn back the sheets.” She, however, now sees him as a big Hollywood star, and he gets more than he bargained for when she has to make a choice between him and the boring New Jersey husband she has been married to since he left. Can we ever go back to the way it was? Or does it take too many “vodka stingers” to get there?
The final act finds a mother and father fighting about the best way to get their soon-to-be-married daughter out of the locked bathroom and down to the ballroom where guests await the wedding ceremony. The father is worried about the cost of the “cocktail wienies” and the band. The mother is distracted by her torn nylons, and the daughter won’t even discuss the problem. What will it take to get her out--and what will the couple discover about their own marriage in the interim? Are we destined to make the same mistakes our parents made? Or is there hope for change?
"Plaza Suite" has been a hit with audiences for over 30 years due to its poignant and comic look at marriage, relationships, and the games that couples play. It’s an evening of comedy and reflection not to be missed.
